Oriole Classic: JV Runners Up and Varsity Champions

In the JV Tournament, the schools included MSD, St. John's Catholic Prep, Fairfax Hawks, Covenant Life School, and King Abdullah Academy. After an exciting round-robin stage, MSD secured the No. 2 seed in the tournament bracket with a record of five wins and three losses. King Abdullah Academy and Covenant Life School competed for third place, with King Abdullah Academy emerging victorious. The championship match saw Fairfax Hawks, the No. 1 seed, facing off against MSD. Despite a strong performance, MSD fell to Fairfax Hawks with scores of 25-9 and 25-21, finishing as the tournament's runner-up. Congratulations to the JV team for their impressive second-place finish, and special recognition to MSD's Emmanuela Debrah and Dior Bowers, who were named to the JV All-Tournament Team.

In the Varsity Division, the competing teams were MSD, St. John's Catholic Prep, Fairfax Hawks, King Abdullah Academy, and Turkeyfoot Valley High School. During round-robin play, MSD initially tied with King Abdullah Academy and Fairfax Hawks but went on to win their final two matches, finishing with six sets won and two lost, earning the No. 2 seed. In the championship match, MSD avenged an earlier tie with Fairfax Hawks by winning 25-23 and 25-18, securing the championship title. King Abdullah Academy defeated St. John's Catholic Prep in the third-place match.

Congratulations to MSD's Maliyah Coleman, named Varsity Tournament Most Valuable Player, and Truly Austin and Rita Virnig, who were selected for the Varsity All-Tournament Team. Kudos to the Varsity Team for their championship victory.
