On January 11, during the second Indoor Track meet of the season at the Winter Storm Invitational, freshman Emmanuela Debrah set a new school record, while junior Mark Gwynn III broke both the school and national deaf prep records.
Emmanuela Debrah clocked a personal best of 8.18 seconds in the 55-meter dash, breaking the school record previously held by Milana Bielucke ('20), who ran 8.39 seconds in 2019.
Mark Gwynn III recorded a personal best of 8.30 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles, breaking the national deaf prep record previously held by Terrell Summers of Louisiana (2005) and Mepper Beshears ('23), who both finished with a time of 8.41 seconds.
Gwynn's performance also set a new school record, surpassing the previous mark of 8.41 seconds set by Mepper Beshears ('23) in 2003.
In back-to-back indoor track meets this season, Gwynn has now set two national deaf prep records. Before winter break, he was part of the 4x200m relay team that set a new national deaf prep record.
Congratulations, Emmanuela and Mark!
